Disney's Magic Kingdom Railroad Shuts Down for Six Weeks
The Walt Disney World Railroad is closing its doors for six weeks at Magic Kingdom. Starting on September 28, guests will no longer be able to ride the classic steam trains around the entire park due to ongoing construction in Frontierland.
This closure marks another step in a lengthy period of change for the attraction, which has been operating under a modified route since July 2025. The train now runs as a shuttle between Main Street, U.S.A. and Fantasyland, skipping the Frontierland section where the tracks run through the construction zone.
The railroad's extended closure is happening while Magic Kingdom undergoes one of its largest transformations in history. Disney is developing new areas, including Piston Peak National Park and a Disney Villains land, which will likely impact the full return of the classic route.
