Nvidia Secures Custom AI Silicon Standard with $3.5 Billion MediaTek Investment
Nvidia has invested $3.5 billion in MediaTek through convertible bonds, securing its NVLink Fusion platform as the standard for custom AI silicon.
This deal follows Nvidia's previous investment of $2 billion in Marvell, another major chip designer, and demonstrates Nvidia's push to integrate its architecture into other companies' products.
The collaboration between Nvidia and MediaTek will cover custom AI infrastructure using NVLink Fusion, as well as continued work on Nvidia RTX Spark and DGX Spark PC chips, and MediaTek automotive platforms for AI-powered vehicles.
