Disney's Magic Kingdom Unveils Largest Expansion Ever: 'New' Piston Peak Replaces Classic Attractions
The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort is undergoing its largest expansion in history. At D23 2026, Disney confirmed that Cars will enter a reimagined section of Frontierland and a Villains-themed land will be built beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Piston Peak National Park is being added to the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island area, replacing these attractions permanently. The new park draws from the Rocky Mountains, American frontier, and national-park architecture, featuring a visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails, waterfalls, geysers, and two Cars attractions: an off-road rally experience and a family-friendly ride.
Villains Land will introduce a darker environment beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with two major attractions, dining, and shopping. While Disney has not yet revealed every attraction inside Villains Land, the company has officially confirmed four major attractions across both projects.
