UnitedHealthcare CEO Killer Pleads Guilty to Federal Stalking Charges

Luigi Mangione, 28, pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges in court for the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The crime occurred in Manhattan in December 2024.

Mangione admitted in court that he shot and killed Thompson as the victim walked alone outside the Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan. He also acknowledged that his actions would place Thompson in fear of death or bodily injury, and that he knew what he was doing was illegal.

The prosecution has asked for Mangione to receive the maximum sentence, which is life in prison. However, Mangione's lawyers may seek dismissal of some charges due to his guilty plea in the federal case.
