Disney's Monsters, Inc. Coaster Will Be First Suspended Roller Coaster at World
Disney World is getting its first-ever suspended roller coaster as part of the upcoming Monsters, Inc. expansion at Hollywood Studios. The yet-to-be-named door coaster will take riders through a thrilling experience inspired by the film's climactic door chase scene, including a 40-foot drop in just four seconds.
The attraction is scheduled to open sometime after the rest of Monstropolis, which is set to debut in 2027. While concept art suggests that the vehicles won't have much space for riders' personal belongings, it's likely that Disney will implement a locker system similar to the one at TRON Lightcycle/Run.
The locker system allows guests to store their items in small lockers that can be accessed using their MagicBand. The system is designed to keep the area from getting overcrowded and make it easy for guests to retrieve their belongings after riding the coaster.
