Disney's New Animation Area Hits Snag Just Nine Days After Opening

The Magic of Disney Animation, a new area at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios, opened to guests on September 14. This space is designed to bring back the park's movie making identity, which has been gradually moving away from in recent years.

The area features hand drawn artwork, classic Disney references, and hands-on animation experiences, including Olaf Draws!, a drawing lesson led by an animatronic version of Olaf from Frozen. However, just nine days after its opening, the attraction was forced to close due to technical difficulties with the animatronic.

The issues caused Olaf Draws! to shut down entirely on September 22, and separate audio problems are also affecting The Magic of Disney Animation more broadly. There is currently no timeline for when the show will resume, but the area offers other experiences that guests can enjoy in the meantime.
