Disney's Theme Park Strategy: A Blueprint for Immersive Experiences
Disney's theme park strategy has been perfected over decades, and it's becoming increasingly crucial to the company as consumer demand for in-person experiences surges.
A new documentary, 'Disney Worldbuilders,' goes behind the scenes of this strategy. Director Leslie Iwerks interviewed numerous industry experts, including Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro, to learn about the key elements that make theme park attractions successful.
Iwerks found that authenticity and detail are essential in creating immersive experiences. 'At the end of the day, it has to be a believable world,' she said, quoting Jon Favreau from 'The Mandalorian.'
Not every movie lends itself to a theme park attraction, according to Iwerks. She pointed out that the door-vault sequence from 'Monsters, Inc.' is an example of a fun and adventurous scene that naturally translates into a ride.
