Disney's Vintage Electric Water Spectacle Turns 55
The Electrical Water Pageant has been enchanting audiences at Walt Disney World for over five decades. Debuting in October 1971, just a few weeks after the resort opened, this classic nighttime show has remained largely unchanged since its inception.
Featuring illuminated barges stretching over 1,000 feet across Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, the Pageant showcases a procession of glowing sea creatures, including original floats from the 1970s. The show's soundtrack has also undergone changes over the years, with songs accompanying different figures.
The Electrical Water Pageant is still a labor-intensive operation, requiring just five Cast Members to run the show each night. This small crew gets the show underway as soon as everyone moves into position, despite changing winds and other conditions.
