Disney's Walt Disney World Railroad Closed for Refurbishment

The Walt Disney World Railroad is currently closed for refurbishment at Magic Kingdom. According to Disney's refurbishment calendar, the train will be out of service from September 28 through October 29, 2026.

The railroad has been operating as a shuttle between the Main Street, U.S.A. station and the Storybook Circus station in Fantasyland since July 7, 2025, when construction started on the Cars and Disney Villains Land expansions in Frontierland. The full loop will return once these new lands open.

In the meantime, guests can expect a 5-minute journey between the two stations. The train has undergone changes during this time, including the addition of a Stitch-themed audio track and new seating arrangements, allowing passengers to face either forward or backward.

This is not the first long closure for the railroad; it was closed for nearly four years during the construction of TRON Lightcycle/Run. Disney notes that the shuttle setup will remain in place until the Cars and Villains Land construction project is complete.
