Nvidia's DLSS 5 has been met with controversy since its initial unveiling. The tech was touted as a real-time neural rendering model that uses AI to polish up game visuals without altering assets, but gave developers control over implementation.

However, following the release of NBA 2K27's early access, a DLSS 'neural rendering' DLL was discovered in the build. Modders soon got it working in games, with Control being one of the first test cases.

The leaked version of DLSS 5 works on character models only and has adjustable parameters, including seven different styles and sliders to play with intensity, tone, and structure.

The tech is exclusive to Nvidia RTX 5000 GPUs for now. Performance-wise, the leaked code shows a frame rate drop in half when using neural rendering, but this may not be indicative of the final product's performance.
