Dodgers Lose Two Pitchers as Gonsolin Signs with Royals and Honeywell Joins Padres

Two former Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers have found new homes in Major League Baseball. Tony Gonsolin, who played for the Dodgers from 2019 to 2022, signed a major league deal with the Kansas City Royals. The contract includes a team option for 2027 if the Royals like what they see from him.

Gonsolin was an important part of the Dodgers' rotation during his time in Los Angeles, posting a 2.51 ERA over four seasons. However, injuries have been a concern for him, including a left ankle sprain and a forearm injury that required Tommy John surgery in 2023.

The Dodgers designated Gonsolin for assignment at the end of last season, and he entered free agency. He eventually signed with the Royals, who are hoping he can stay healthy and contribute to their team's success.

Brent Honeywell Jr., another former Dodger, has also found a new home. He signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres, looking to get back to the major leagues after missing the entire 2025 season due to injury. In 2024, he posted a solid 2.63 ERA in 37.2 innings and earned a spot on the postseason roster.
