Dodgers Sidelined by Injuries as Rival Signs Former Pitcher
The Los Angeles Dodgers have won back-to-back World Series titles and are once again chasing history with a third consecutive championship. However, injuries to key players, including All-Star starter Justin Wrobleski, are mounting pressure on the team's pitching depth.
Wrobleski suffered an injury during a game, but the exact nature of the injury is yet to be revealed. He will undergo tests and may require some time to rest, which will give him an opportunity to miss a few turns through the rotation.
The Dodgers can likely afford some pitching setbacks given their depth, but the latest injury adds another layer of urgency facing a staff that has already required plenty of maneuvering this season. Meanwhile, former World Series standout pitcher Brent Honeywell Jr. has agreed to a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres, bringing one of the more memorable Dodgers contributors this season to a fierce National League West division rival.
Honeywell last pitched in the majors during the Dodgers' 2024 postseason run and had a 2.63 ERA in 37 2/3 innings that year, with 34 1/3 of those innings coming with the Dodgers. He was non-tendered by the team during the offseason and did not appear in affiliated ball in 2025.
Honeywell's unique personality earned him praise from former teammate Daniel Hudson, who described him as 'one of one.' The veteran right-hander will now try to craft similar moments with a contending Padres team.
