Dolby Taps Tech Veteran Marc Whitten as New CEO

Dolby Laboratories has named Marc Whitten as its new president and CEO, replacing Kevin Yeaman who is stepping down after 17 years at the helm. The company said it selected Whitten through a 'thoughtful, long-term succession process'.

Whitten will also join Dolby's board of directors. Yeaman will stay on in an advisory role.

The company cited Whitten's experience as a key factor in his selection, noting that he has built and scaled category-defining businesses across industries and led global organizations through periods of transformation.

Whitten most recently served as VP of robotics at Meta. Prior to that, he was VP of entertainment devices and services at Amazon, where he helped build its Alexa, Kindle, and Fire TV product families. He also spent 17 years at Microsoft, including a stint as corporate VP and chief product officer of Xbox.

'Dolby has set the standard for how people experience sight and sound for decades,' Whitten said in a statement. 'As content, platforms, and technologies continue to evolve, Dolby is uniquely positioned to matter even more for creators, partners, and consumers.'
