Donald Lee Bennington 92 Passes Away Peacefully at Home

Donald Lee Bennington, a 92-year-old resident of McGaheysville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on October 3, 2026. Born on June 28, 1934, in Penn Laird, Virginia, Bennington was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his brother, George E. Bennington, and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Foltz, as well as his three daughters, Kimberly Davis, Sharon Bennington, and Karen Pickett.

Bennington's family legacy includes his grandchildren Matthew Davis, Joshua Davis, Benjamin Davis, and Emma Pickett, along with seven great-grandchildren. He was a graduate of Elkton High School and dedicated 35 years of his career to Merck. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Navy for eight years. In his leisure time, Bennington enjoyed hunting, golfing, gardening, and spending quality time with his family.

A private service was held earlier in the week, and he was interred at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the McGaheysville Fire Company in his honor.
