Dow Falls Amid Sector Disparities
The US stock market experienced mixed results at the close of trading on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 0.36% after losses in key sectors such as telecommunications, financials, and oil & gas outweighed gains in basic materials, consumer goods, and health care.
Amgen Inc led the gainers with a 4.34% increase, followed closely by Home Depot Inc at 2.76%, and 3M Company at 2.62%. However, Cisco Systems Inc was the top loser, falling 4.50%, while JPMorgan Chase & Co declined 3.42% and American Express Company dropped 2.72%.
The S&P 500 index saw Monolithic Power Systems Inc rise by a significant 8.06%, followed by Celanese Corporation at 6.89%, and Lennar Corporation at 6.38%. Conversely, Gen Digital Inc plummeted 6.38%, Godaddy Inc lost 6.23%, and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd fell to 52-week lows.
