Dow Hits Record High as Amgen, Goldman Sachs, Nvidia Drive Gains

The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached an all-time record high on August 5, 2026, ending at 54,349.00 after a gain of 263.12 points.

This was the index's third consecutive record close, with three stocks - Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN), Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS), and Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) - accounting for 79% of the total net increase, or roughly 207 points.

The S&P 500 slipped 0.17%, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.83%. Market breadth was lacking, with decliners outnumbering advancers on both key exchanges.
