Dow Jones Plunges as Oil Prices Soar and Treasury Yields Hit 2007 High

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell on Monday, September 28, 2026, as oil prices rose and Treasury yields reached their highest levels since 2007.

The index closed at 51,481.51, down 347.11 points or 0.67% from Friday's close of 51,828.62.

President Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the conflict, leading to a surge in oil prices, which added to inflation concerns.

The 10-year Treasury yield rose about 6 basis points to 5.24%, its highest level since 2007, while the 30-year yield reached 5.56%, its highest since 2004.

Boeing was among the heaviest weights on the price-weighted index, falling about 6.9% after President Trump's announcement.
