Dow Jumps Back After Four Days of Decline
The Dow Jones Industrial Average snapped its four-session losing streak on the first day of trading in the New York market, closing at 50,926.56.
This marked a $20.51 increase from the previous day's close, as the climb in U.S. long-term interest rates paused and investors began buying back stocks perceived as undervalued.
The buying momentum was particularly strong in technology shares, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite extending its gains to finish up 10.54 points at 26,871.60.
Aerospace manufacturer Boeing (BA) and IT giant IBM (IBM) posted notable gains among individual stocks, while entertainment and media company Walt Disney (DIS) faced selling pressure.
