Dreamforce 2026: Trust Imperative Takes Center Stage
The theme of trust dominated this year's Dreamforce conference in San Francisco. Salesforce, a pioneer in software as a service, has always emphasized its commitment to trust with customers' data and applications.
Lindsey Finch, executive vice-president of global privacy, product, AI, and cyber security legal at Salesforce, noted that cloud computing was once considered eccentric but is now the industry standard. She said that the recent advancements in AI have raised the bar for what is necessary from a trust standpoint.
The controversy surrounding AI developers' fears about the technology's potential to kill humanity within the next decade and concerns about Salesforce's ties to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were also discussed at the conference. Marc Benioff put the question of trust to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, in a fireside chat, with Altman expressing his confidence in their ability to develop AI safely.
Salesforce's chief legal officer, Sabastian Niles, said that the company guides itself through the velocity and variability of the IT industry by grounding itself in its customers' businesses first. He emphasized the importance of putting stakeholders at the center and achieving responsible velocity.
