Dreamforce Brings Big Bucks, Big Donations to San Francisco

Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference has wrapped up in San Francisco, bringing with it significant philanthropic contributions to local schools and public safety efforts.

CEO Marc Benioff announced during the conference that his company has donated $156 million to public schools over the past 14 years, including grants awarded this year. This year, Salesforce is providing $27 million to local schools, with $18 million going to schools in New York, Indianapolis, San Francisco, and Oakland.

The San Francisco Unified School District will receive more funds this year from the Salesforce Foundation compared to last year, with Superintendent Maria Su stating that SFUSD will receive $6 million. The grants have had a significant impact on students and educational programs, with Su noting that they've been used to expand computer science classes for students.

Beyond education, Benioff highlighted support for public safety around Dreamforce, announcing that Salesforce has given $13 million to the local police force to keep attendees safe. However, the San Francisco Police Department notes that this figure includes overtime pay for additional officers contracted by Dreamforce during the event.
