Dreamforce Hosts High-Profile Debate on Pace of AI Development
The tech industry is abuzz with debate over the pace of AI development, and Dreamforce is at the center of it all. This week, CEOs from Nvidia, OpenAI, and Anthropic will converge in San Francisco for Salesforce's massive Dreamforce conference, just a day after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang dismissed weekend calls to slow down AI development.
OpenAI's Sam Altman and Anthropic's Dario Amodei had urged caution over the dangers of rapid AI advancement. However, Huang took a differing view at the All-In conference on Monday, where he also took a live phone call from President Trump, who expressed skepticism about the need for an AI slowdown.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff will host a star-studded opening keynote featuring Amodei and Huang, while Altman is set to join Benioff in a fireside chat later that day. The discussion highlights the growing concern within the tech industry about the risks associated with AI development.
For Salesforce, however, a slowdown in AI releases might not be entirely unwelcome. As president Patrick Stokes noted, 'As a builder, them slowing down a little bit is kind of good news because we have a lot of catching up to do, and we could use a little time to catch up.'
