Drenthe Men Face Prison Terms Up to Four Years for Amazon Scam

Three men from Drenthe in the Netherlands have been accused of defrauding Amazon out of millions of euros. The suspects pretended to return goods, but instead packed the boxes with cheap items to match the weight of the original packages.

The main suspect, a 30-year-old man from Hoogeveen, is facing up to four years in prison. His co-defendants are expected to serve 30 months and 28 months, respectively. The men are charged with fraud, embezzlement, money laundering, and participating in a criminal organization.

The prosecutor claims that the suspects did not pay for items including phones, memory cards, and LEGO bricks. Amazon is seeking over 2 million euros in compensation for the damages.
