Druckenmiller's Surprising Bet: Why Billionaire Investor is Loading Up on Genetic Testing Company
Stanley Druckenmiller's latest 13F filing revealed that he added Amazon and Alphabet to his portfolio in Q2, but what caught attention was his single biggest holding: Natera.
Natera is a molecular diagnostics company focused on cell-free DNA testing, which analyzes tiny fragments of DNA circulating in blood to answer questions about pregnancy, cancer, and organ health. The company's three main franchises are women's health, oncology, and transplant surveillance.
Despite not being a household brand, Natera has seen significant growth, with total revenue reaching $696.6 million in Q1 2026, up nearly 39% year over year. Oncology volumes jumped 54%, and the company processed over one million tests for the first time in its history.
The piece that keeps catching attention is Signatera, Natera's personalized molecular residual disease test, which helps detect tiny traces of cancer DNA left after treatment or surgery. The company has secured FDA-approved companion diagnostics, PMDA-approved MRD tests in Japan, and EU IVDR-certified personalized MRD tests for solid tumors.
Druckenmiller's bet on Natera suggests that he thinks this type of diagnostics platform will become a core part of how medicine works in the next decade. However, the stock has already run significantly, raising valuation questions.
