Dubai Prepares for Quantum Future Amid $10 Billion IBM Investment
IBM has announced plans to invest over $10 billion in quantum computing over five years, targeting a fault-tolerant machine called Starling with 200 logical qubits by 2029.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, believes businesses that wait for the finish line will find important decisions already made. He recounts a conversation with IBM's Lula Mohanty in 2025 where she emphasized that everyone will be impacted by quantum technology soon.
DMCC Quantum was born from this conversation, aiming to connect traders, financiers, materials firms, AI and gaming companies, and cyber specialists to the labs and hardware makers. The hub will not build a national quantum computer but create an ecosystem around it.
