Durham and Microsoft Launch AI Skills Hub
Durham University has launched a new AI Skills Centre of Excellence in collaboration with Microsoft. The initiative aims to provide expertise, training, and support to help individuals develop essential AI skills for students, staff, and the broader North East England region.
The Centre's initial focus will be on preparing students and graduates for a rapidly changing job market. It will also assist staff in exploring how AI can improve teaching, research, and professional services.
Future phases of the project will extend opportunities to businesses, public sector agencies, and community partners, fostering AI capability and growth across the region. The physical hub will host workshops, training events, and other sessions centered around AI and related technologies.
The Centre is designed to help people from diverse backgrounds and experience levels build confidence in using AI in inclusive, practical, and responsible ways.
