Dutchess County Set to Grant PILOT for $2.5 Billion IBM Quantum-Computing Facility

The Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency is poised to grant a payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) for IBM's $2.5 billion quantum-computing facility, which will be constructed on the company's campus on South Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

This move comes just one week after the IDA approved a preliminary resolution for the PILOT and sales tax exemption, with a special meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 to finalize the approval.

According to IBM consultant Eric Stavriotis, this project will serve as 'the center of gravity' for IBM's quantum-computing development.
