E2 Jets Grounded Globally Over GPS Fault

A GPS fault has grounded dozens of Embraer E2 jets worldwide after a joint crisis response was launched by Embraer and Honeywell. The issue, first detected on Tuesday by Azul Linhas Aéreas, affects around 200 aircraft across 24 airlines using the Honeywell Primus Epic 2.0 system.

Azul has grounded its entire fleet of 43 planes, while Porter Airlines, Virgin Australia, and European carriers have canceled flights pending resolution.

The temporary fix involves a full cockpit power cycle, which may restore GPS but risks recurrence, prompting airlines to avoid this due to safety concerns.

Honeywell must deliver a verified software patch for permanent resolution, with Embraer's technical team coordinating global updates and coordinating efforts at hubs in Brazil, Canada, and Europe.
