Eagle Scout Candidate Unveils Community Library Years in the Making

Carter Lang, a 17-year-old Eagle Scout candidate, has completed his five-year-long project to build a Little Free Library for the Town of Brookhaven's Centereach Pool. The library was stocked with books donated by Book Fairies in Hicksville, which Carter had collected 5,580 of just five years ago as part of his Boy Scout reading merit badge.

The library is designed to foster a love of reading throughout the community and serves as Carter's Eagle Scout project with Troop 356. His father, James Lang of Lang Construction, helped with the design and construction, while Home Depot in Selden donated materials.

Carter expressed his excitement for sharing the library with the community, stating 'I'm really excited to be able to share this with all of you.' He also thanked everyone who contributed to the project, including Assistant Scoutmasters Scott Sheridan and Vincent Monaco, and fellow Scouts Andrew Monaco and Zander Berkey.
