Early Tech Industry Veteran Neil Griffin Passes Away at 91
Neil Joseph Griffin, a prominent figure in the early years of the computer and technology industry, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on March 25, 1935, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Cornelius and Catherine Griffin, Neil earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Western New England College.
He built a successful career working for Honeywell Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation during the early years of the computer and technology industry. In 1967, he met his future wife, Carol Chamberlain Griffin, at Rockledge Country Club, and they married in 1968. The couple made Glastonbury their home for 48 years, raising four children together.
Neil was actively involved in his community, coaching youth sports and forming lasting friendships with his high school classmates, neighbors, coworkers, and many others throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol; his son, Neil Griffin Jr.; his granddaughter, Chloe; his daughter, Patricia Griffin Conway, and her husband, Jason, and their sons, Harrison and Jacob; his son, David Griffin, and his wife Emily, and their sons, Owen and Landon; his son, Brian Griffin, and his children Phoebe and Henry; and his sister, Mary Catherine Griffin.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at SS Isidore and Maria Parish in St. Paul Church, Glastonbury, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mulryan Funeral Home.
