Egypt, Chevron Push Forward Aphrodite Gas Project Amid Eastern Mediterranean Energy Boom
Egypt and Chevron are moving forward with plans to develop the Aphrodite Gas Project in Cyprus's offshore Block 12, which is estimated to contain around 3.5 trillion cubic feet of recoverable natural gas resources.
The project involves installing a floating production unit capable of processing about 800 million cubic feet of gas per day, alongside a subsea pipeline that will transport the production to Egypt's gas transmission network for processing and export.
Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, held talks with Chevron's President for Base Assets and Emerging Countries, Javier La Rosa, to review progress on the project and explore opportunities for expanding cooperation in regional gas development.
