Egyptian Medical Chain Dawi Aims for Affordable Care
Dawi Clinics, a thirty-branch chain in Egypt, has been likened to both Starbucks and McDonald's. The comparison stems from its goal of providing consistent medical care at an affordable price for the middle class.
Founder Magda Habib co-founded Dawi with her husband, who suggests that McDonald's is a better analogy due to the high prices associated with Starbucks in Egypt.
Dawi Clinics is not Habib's first venture; she played a key role in growing Raya Holding, an information and communications technology company that expanded into several sectors, including Fawry, a major fintech business. Both companies listed on the Egyptian stock exchange during periods of economic uncertainty.
Habib emphasizes the importance of perseverance in entrepreneurship, noting that it requires a clear vision and flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances. She advises against getting stuck on initial plans due to inevitable detours along the way.
