Embraer E2 Airlines Face GPS Instability Issues Amid Global Investigation

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has reported GPS system instability affecting certain E2 family aircraft. The issue was first identified by Azul, a Brazilian carrier that operates several Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 planes.

Embraer said it is working with operators and the equipment manufacturer, Honeywell, to address the problem. The company assured that flight safety is not affected, but the issue may impact airline schedules.

Honeywell stated it is actively assessing the matter to determine the underlying cause of the GPS-reception problem. Several airlines, including Azul, KLM Cityhopper, Binter, Helvetic, and Mexicana, have reported similar issues with their E2 aircraft.

The anomaly occurs when an E2 aircraft is powered up on the ground before dispatch, causing GPS reception problems that can be resolved by a system reset. However, the issue may recur after the restart.
