EMD Electronics Opens Semiconductor Facility in Sheboygan Falls
EMD Electronics, part of the German Merck corporation, has launched a new semiconductor development facility in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. The 38,000 square-foot site, situated on Merck’s Millipore Sigma campus, focuses on creating advanced materials for next-generation semiconductor manufacturing. The facility supports the entire product development lifecycle, from discovery to hazard testing, with eight specialized laboratories.
The opening ceremony was attended by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and John Miller, CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Miller highlighted that the new R&D center strengthens the state’s position as a hub for cutting-edge technology development and job creation.
The facility is part of a broader $200 million investment by EMD in the U.S. and is designed for future expansion, with the first phase expected to be completed next year.
