Energy Firms Most Vulnerable to Cyber Attacks: Honeywell Report
A recent report from Honeywell Technologies highlights concerning trends in operational technology (OT) cybersecurity incidents. Energy and utilities companies are particularly vulnerable, with 91% of respondents experiencing significant OT cybersecurity incidents over the past 12 months.
This is the highest rate among sectors covered by the report. Despite this, energy and utilities companies reported a high level of recovery confidence, with 91% saying they could restore critical systems within 24 hours.
Oil and gas companies, on the other hand, experienced a lower incident rate at 54%, but only 52% expected to be able to restore critical systems within the same timeframe. This represents the lowest expected recovery rate among the sectors analyzed.
