Engineer Wen Yuan Wang Passes Away at 79

Renowned engineer Wen Yuan Wang passed away on August 21, 2026, at Northwell Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, surrounded by his family.

Born on February 3, 1947, in Shanghai, China, Wen grew up in Taiwan and graduated from the National Taiwan University Electrical Engineering Department in 1968. After completing his military service, he pursued further education at the University of Cincinnati and earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Wen's professional career spanned many years as an Electrical Engineer at IBM and Intel. He was married to Shirley Wang on September 25, 1972, in Cincinnati, where they met. Wen is survived by his daughters Shawei Wang So and Shayee Wang, along with their spouses and granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Church Wall Street, World Wildlife Fund, or the American Stroke Association. A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 5, 2026, at the McHoul Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction.
