Entergy Seeks Block on Data Center Power Deal Details
Entergy Arkansas has filed a complaint against two local news organizations in an attempt to block the publication of information about plans to provide power to a massive Google data center under development in West Memphis.
The utility company alleges that the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the Arkansas Times have, or plan to publish confidential information mistakenly released by the Arkansas Public Service Commission.
According to reports, the news organizations had obtained details of an agreement between Entergy and Google to fund the construction of Cypress Solar, a 600-megawatt solar field and 350-megawatt battery facility. The Democrat-Gazette reported that Google will pay Entergy Arkansas $526 million of the $1.6 billion price tag for the facility.
Entergy is seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent the news organizations from publishing further details about the data center's expected power demand and operational timeline, as well as internal PSC deliberations.
