Equinor has entered the Namibian market by acquiring a 17.4% stake in the PEL 90 concession from Chevron subsidiary Harmattan Energy.

The Orange Basin, where PEL 90 is located, has seen significant activity since 2022 with major discoveries made by Shell and TotalEnergies.

PEL 90 includes a drilling prospect that is scheduled to be tested later this year.

Namibia's emergence as a global exploration hotspot has attracted international operators and investors seeking exposure to what could become one of the world's next major offshore petroleum provinces.
