Ethiopian Airlines Boosts Fleet with Boeing 787 Order
Ethiopian Airlines has confirmed an order for six additional Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline will convert previously agreed options into firm commitments, supporting its plans to expand its long-haul network and increase cargo capacity from its hub in Addis Ababa.
The order forms part of the airline's broader fleet planning strategy, with the Boeing 787-9 aircraft set to be deployed on intercontinental routes. This will enable Ethiopian Airlines to serve destinations across Europe, Asia, and North America, while also supporting connections within Africa.
Mesfin Tasew, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, stated that the decision reflects the airline's focus on fleet development and long-term operations. He noted that the addition of these aircraft will support network expansion and operational requirements.
