Ethiopian Airlines Buys New Boeing Freighters for Global Expansion
Boeing has secured a major order from Ethiopian Airlines for ten new freighters, including eight Boeing 777-8Fs and two 777Fs. This significant expansion is set to bolster the airline's cargo capacity and global reach.
The new aircraft will feature an unmatched payload of 118 tonnes and a range of 5,000 nautical miles, making them ideal for routes across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.
Deliveries for the 777-8F are expected to begin in 2028, aligning with Boeing's 777X rollout, while the 777Fs may arrive sooner. This order reinforces Ethiopian Airlines' role as Africa's cargo hub and its long-standing partnership with Boeing.
