Ethiopian Airlines Places Major Order for Boeing Freighters
Ethiopian Airlines has placed a major order for new freighters from Boeing. The airline signed an agreement on Wednesday for ten new aircraft, including eight of Boeing's latest model, the 777-8F, and two current-generation 777Fs.
The delivery schedule shows a long gap between the two generations, with the first current-generation 777F arriving in 2027 and the second in 2028. The first 777-8F is not due until 2033, five years after the last of the two additional 777Fs.
The order is valued at around $5 billion by Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew, although he did not disclose the actual price negotiated with Boeing. The agreement also includes purchase rights for eight more 777-8Fs.
