Etihad Swaps 777s for 787 Dreamliners on Abu Dhabi-Dhaka Route

Etihad Airways is upgrading its international flights from Abu Dhabi to Dhaka with more efficient Boeing aircraft. The airline will replace its Boeing 777-300ER with the newer Boeing 787-9 on four weekly routes starting October 25, 2026.

The change aims to meet demand during the slower winter period, when a smaller aircraft like the Dreamliner can be used instead of the larger 777. The 787-9 offers improved performance, lower fuel burn, and a state-of-the-art cabin with features such as quieter ride, larger windows, and higher humidity settings.

The decision is part of Etihad's capacity management plan to match demand on various routes throughout the year. By swapping aircraft during low-demand periods, the airline can redeploy its planes to other cities that require more seats.
