EU Considers Using Google Fines to Slash Budget Contributions
France's Europe Minister Benjamin Haddad is proposing that the European Union use billions of euros in fines imposed on Google to reduce the contributions made by member states to the EU budget.
The penalties, worth €4.6 billion, were recently handed down to Google for violating European Union rules designed to curb the power of Big Tech.
Haddad described the proceeds as a new source of revenue for the European Union and suggested that they should automatically lower the contributions of all member states.
