EU Ministers Push for Stricter Travel Restrictions Amid Russian Sabotage

A recent attack on a German airport by Russian saboteurs has led to calls from EU foreign ministers for stricter travel restrictions and bans on individuals connected to Russia.

The suspects, who used Italian tourist visas to enter Europe, were traced by German authorities after the attack on Leipzig Airport. One of the attackers held a Latvian passport while the other had a Russian passport, with the latter also suspected of launching similar incidents in Baltic countries.

EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas stated that there was broad support to limit travel for Russian-connected individuals and introduce bans on those who have fought for Russia in Ukraine. The EU is also considering introducing tougher visa restrictions for Russian tourists.
