European Giants Struggle to Match US Growth Pace
Europe's largest companies are struggling to achieve the same pace of growth as their US counterparts. According to Fortune, the combined revenues of the top European companies rose by just 4% to a record $15.5 trillion this year, while profits climbed only 3%. In contrast, US companies saw profits rise by 12.4% and revenue by 5.4%.
At the Fortune CEO Forum in London, business leaders shared their views on how to drive European growth. Microsoft's Samer Abu-Ltaif emphasized the need for a more innovative regulatory framework that fosters innovation. Nicole Melillo, managing director of Volvo UK, highlighted the importance of sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.
Other executives, including Kelly Devine of Mastercard Europe and Sir Alex Chisholm of EDF, pointed to energy costs and electrification as key areas for improvement. Hanneke Faber, CEO of Logitech, noted that AI has huge potential to boost productivity in Europe.
