European Passports Dominate Visa-Free Travel Rankings
A new ranking by Passport Reports has evaluated passport strength across Europe based on visa-free access, electronic travel authorizations (ETAs), and visa-on-arrival eligibility. The study found that Spanish passports are the strongest in Europe for visa-free travel, with a mobility score of 174. This allows holders to visit 121 countries without a visa and an additional 42 destinations via visa on arrival.
Luxembourg came in fifth place globally, scoring 173 for mobility, giving its citizens access to 122 countries visa-free and 41 more with a visa on arrival. Other European nations that ranked high include Belgium, France, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Sweden, all sharing seventh place.
The rankings highlight the significant travel flexibility enjoyed by European passport holders but also show that even the continent's strongest passports still require advance visa applications for a notable number of destinations worldwide. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding visa requirements when planning international travel.
