EVA Airways Partners with Microsoft on Sustainable Aviation Fuel Deal
EVA Airways has partnered with Microsoft and AIT Worldwide Logistics to reduce carbon emissions from air transportation. The agreement involves using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced by Formosa Petrochemical, which has lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions approximately 80% lower than conventional jet fuel.
The partnership will provide Microsoft with 15,000 tonnes of Scope 3 carbon reduction environmental benefits in the first year. This is expected to help reduce the carbon footprint of its cloud device air transportation.
EVA Airways President Sun Chia-ming expressed optimism that this cross-industry cooperation model will be replicated in the future.
