F-Droid Unveils Major Overhaul with Version 2.0 Update
F-Droid, one of the biggest open-source alternatives to Google Play for Android apps, has rolled out its long-awaited version 2.0 update. The new client brings a complete overhaul to the interface, stronger search functionality, and easier app discovery.
The update follows over a year of work and 14 test releases. It will reach users gradually over the coming weeks, although anyone impatient can download it from F-Droid's versions page now.
F-Droid has always been a user favorite due to its commitment to open-source apps without tracking or sponsored recommendations. However, its outdated client had become frustrating enough that some users replaced it with more polished alternatives like Droid-ify. This update could finally persuade them to return.
