FAA Approves Amended Type Certificate for Boeing 737 MAX-7
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted an amended type certificate to Boeing's 737 MAX-7, following a nearly decade-long review process.
The approval reflects years of sustained work by the FAA and Boeing to resolve complex technical issues and complete a thorough review of the airplane's design and safety analyses.
The FAA performed or reviewed extensive work in areas such as flight controls, system safety assessments, human factors, and flightcrew alerting, requiring testing, design changes, and additional analysis where necessary.
As part of the approval, Boeing was required to incorporate key improvements addressing requirements from the Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act and NTSB recommendations, including updates to the flight-control software and a redesigned engine anti-ice system.
