Boeing has finally received certification for its 737 MAX 7 aircraft from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after a lengthy process that began over eight years ago.

The FAA announced the certification on Monday, following 'almost a decade of extensive review' and 'years of sustained work to resolve complex technical issues.'

Boeing had originally planned to start deliveries of the 737 MAX 7 in 2019, but this was delayed due to two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019.

To win certification, Boeing completed 441 flight tests over 686 test flight hours.

The company is also close to receiving certification for its 737 MAX 10, the largest version of the aircraft with a maximum capacity of 230 seats.
