The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has finally certified the Boeing 737 Max 7 to fly after years of delays. The smallest model in the 737 line was held back due to issues with an engine anti-icing system and other safety concerns.

The FAA performed a thorough review of the plane's design and supporting safety analyses, which involved significant work on flight controls, system safety assessments, human factors, and other critical areas. The agency also required testing, design changes, and additional analysis when necessary.

Boeing's stock price rose about 8% in Monday afternoon trading following the news of the certification. The company is still waiting for approval of its 737 Max 10 model, which has been delayed for years.
